21st Century Literacy

Response:

I believe teachers should teach students that not everything is true that is posted online. Advertisements are not good for a content source. As a student I did not know that some things posted online were false information. Until about the 10^th grade I didn’t know that Wikipedia was something for anyone to post on. Teachers need to aware their students that not everything is true.  If students know where to find the truth about information they could actually become more interested in a topic. It’s up to the teacher on helping students understand false and correct information.

The first picture gives me more confidence in the president's leadership. I believe this because in the first picture he seems to be walking confident and has others following.

I wonder what they have just done before this photo was takent that they all seem so happy about.

Discussion on Photostory

We had to create a photostory about a teaching quote. We had to add photos with text to the story. The goal to this project was to make an impact with the video. My quote was "If the student fails to learn, the teacher fails to teach." With my photos I tried to use photos that would help a teacher to teach in a way that makes the student better at learning. I had ended the photostory with the words, "You may impact a student's life", and some teachers may not realize that they got a student through school, because of their class.

This program works with the ISTE NETS number 2. It works with digital learning experiences. Teachers could create their own and teach students or even students creating their own photo stories and show the teacher their own knowledge of knowing how to use technology.

Digital story could promote learning in my classroom in the future because it’s a fun way to learn. Its information that a student may need to know in a different way than a textbook. It is in text form, but the students don't realize it because they are watching a video YOU created so it seems more fun for the students.

As a lesson using digital story I would have students make one at the beginning of the year with them putting what they believe their strengths and weaknesses are in school. Then I could go off of this for the rest of the year knowing what students believe they aren't good at to help them improve in that area. Then at the end of the year have the students make another one to see if the strengths and weaknesses had changed from the beginning of the year.

Art Becoming the Next R

Response:
This question should have not been a question to discuss. Art is a very important part of the school curriculum. Art is a way for students to express themselves. With not having art in the school curriculum it could cause the students to never know if they would like to major in the arts. Some people don’t realize that drawing is not the only form of art. There are many different kinds like music, dancing, theater, and etc. Many jobs use art in the workplace. This could cause students not to be ready for certain employment because they never learned art in school. Art is important for everyone to know. Maybe it isn’t just drawing to be important, but the creativity part of art is really important.

Storytelling

Response:

I believe that students should read a story out loud before they put a digital story together. They get an understanding of the material before they start producing it. If they start to just make the digital story they could miss important parts because they did not read it before hand and see what they thought was important and not important. Reading the story out loud you get a better insight of the story rather than reading to yourselves. If more than one person are reading it others can see what the other students believe to be the important part of that story.
